Legos in the Library.

Masha Allah, the Professors have been very busy of late, and there is lots of stuff to share. Today's post is about one of our favorite topics, Legos. Over the years the second graders have been involved in various lego programs, clubs and classes. The one that has remained our most consistent is a program put on by our local library simply called, Legos in the Library.

Its a free, monthly, community program. The class is a one hour free build for roughly ages K-6th, with tons of legos provided by the Library. At the end of the build session, all the kids bring their creations to the table and do a show and tell of what they've built.

Here's a look a what each of them built during the first session of this school year:

Batman vs Darth Vader.

Red Astronaut vs. The Robbers.
(Yep that's a zip line for the characters)

Emmet, in a scene from The Lego Movie.

If you don't have a program like this at your library, talk to them about starting one. Also,  all legos in the program are from donations, so if you are looking for a place to donate your legos maybe check with your local library.

Summer Plants

We did not do much new gardening this Summer, however back in the Winter, after eating an Apple,  one of my second graders asked me to save one of the seeds. On one  of the first warm Spring days we had this year, he went out and 'planted' it in one of our flower pots. Over time it has grown into a plant, and today we transferred it to a bigger pot. Its starting to take shape, and even has a little bark on it, Masha' Allah. Sometime during the Summer he stuck another seed in the same pot, and it too is starting to grow.

We also spent time Alhumdullilah, rehabilitating a tropical house plant by moving it outdoors for the Summer. We really thank God for bringing life back to this plant, because it was very near animal food.  Today we transferred it to a smaller pot so it can continue to get good sunlight during the day, but be brought in at night now that its getting colder.

Soon we hope to plant some Mums for Fall in place of our Summer plants. Insha' Allah.
